Carroll Middle School Special Events and Performance Explanation

Jazz Band practices on Wednesday afternoons. This ensemble will perform at concerts and be the touring group for the school. Jazz has just been recognized by the NC Band Masters as a part of a full instrumental program.

All County Band is an honor band that requires auditioning with scales, solo and sight-reading at the County level. Students visit a school within the county on a given day and audition for band directors on the requirements. If selected students practice for two days with the select group and perform a concert of selections they have learned.

Winter and Spring Concerts are occasions when the bands showcase their progress to parents, school and community.

Central District All District Band auditions and festival clinic are the same type of competition and honor event as is the All County Band but at the District level.

North Carolina All State Honors Band is an honors band format for which only those in the upper 1/5th of the All District Honors Band are allowed to audition. The same type of schedule as All District Honors Band Clinic applies. It is a great honor to be selected to this groups.

All State Band Festival is a concert festival for the 7th and 8th grades. This festival is a way to get educational feedback from highly qualified clinicians. This trip is a great privilege.

The Wake County Jazz Band Festival is a chance for the Jazz Band to perform for a nationally renowned judge and clinician. The clinician then makes suggestions for the band to improve their performance and technique.

Busch Gardens Trip is another chance for the Advanced Band to perform for educational comments, and it is also a time to have a little fun as well. There will be more information as the year progresses.
