Carroll Choral Ensemble

Description: Carroll Choral Ensemble is a course for advanced study of singing techniques with active performances within the school and in the grater Raleigh Community. Registration is by audition. Students study choral music from many countries as well as various styles (i.e. Folk music, sacred, patriotic, popular, Broadway Musical Theater, classic concert).

Expectations: Students are expected to participate in all vocal warmups, rehearsals and concerts unless physically unable due to illness. Some concert appearances fall outside rgular school hours. Any conflict with a performance scheduled outside regular hous will be considered on an individual basis with a note of explanation, signed by the parent(s) required. Otherwise students are expected to participate in all scheduled concerts of the group. Parents are expected to provide concert attire and transportation to announced concerts outside of regular school hours. If a parent has trouble arranging transportation to a concert often the teacher can help arrange a ride with a classmate. Parents can also support our group by serving as chaperones for school field trip concerts.

Mixed Chorus (Year Long Course)

Description:Mixed Chorus at Carroll is a beginning level course in group singing. Students learn to read music symbols and apply this skill to learning music in harmony from many various styles: folk music, sacred, patriotic, holiday, popular, Broadway musical and classic concert. Students perform required concerts as well as field trips scheduled during school hours to local community sites.

Expectations: Students are expected to participate in all vocal warm up rehearsals and concerts unless physically unable due to illness. Concerts are scheduled at night so parents can attend. Any conflict with a scheduled concert will be considered on an individual basis. Parents are expected to provide a signed note with an explanation for absence from any scheduled concert. Students will wear "Sunday Best" dress clothes for all performances. If a parent has difficulty arranging transportation to the night concert they may contact the teacher to see if arrangements to travel with a classmate can be arranged. Parents can also support our group by volunteering as a chaperone for scheduled field trips during the day.
